Peshawar – November 21, 2021: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) leg of Ufone 4G Football Cup Tournament, 2021 is witnessing blistering performances in the Eliminator round. The province’s regional teams are fighting it off to clinch slots in the upcoming Super 8 round.
On Wednesday, DFA Peshawar and DFA Charsadda faced off at the Tehmas Khan Stadium Peshawar. Courtesy of the indomitable defenses on both sides, none of the teams could score during the allocated time. The match was eventually decided on penalty strokes in which DFA Charsadda outdid DFA Peshawar to clinch victory by 3 goals against 2.
On Thursday, the Kunj Football Ground in Abbottabad opened up for a sensational match between DFA Mansehra and DFA Haripur. The teams both in superb form and spirit fought it out for glory and enthralled the packed stadium. DFA Mansehra, however, emerged as the better side to score 2 goals against naught in the 20th and 43rd minutes of the match. DFA Haripur remained without a score to concede the match 2-0 to the opposition.
The Kunj Football Ground Abbottabad also hosted the next match played between home team DFA Abbottabad and DFA Haripur. The teams were outstanding in both attack and defense throughout the match. The spectators missed many heartbeats as a number of sensational attempts were foiled and reversed on the opposition. However, no goal could be scored till the last whistle and both teams were given a point each.
DFA Tank, DFA Bannu, DFA Karak, DFA Mardan and DFA Charsadda have already qualified for the Super 8 stage of the competition from their respective regions.
The KP leg of the Ufone 4G Football Cup Tournament will come down to eight teams by the end of the Eliminator round who will go on to play the Super 8 round. The victorious teams of Super 8 will play the Semi Finals. The winner of the KP Edition will play a Super Final match against the winner of the Balochistan leg of the Ufone 4G Football Cup Tournament on Dec 03. All Semifinals, Finals, and Super Final matches will be live broadcast from PTV Sports.
